Shay Yahav

Shay Yahav is currently at his last year as a PhD student in Prof. Zaban research group. He joined the lab as a research assistant in 2006, working with Dr. Larissa Grinis on development and characterization of Ni-Co alloys current collectors for high efficient large scale DSSC. He continued his research in his MsC. In His PhD, he continued his research and focuses on increasing the photovoltage of DSSC by developing new metal oxides nano-layers that serves as an efficient coatings and blocking layers.
Shay is experienced with synthesis of metal oxides nanoparticles, spray pyrolysis of metallic solutions and Electro-chemical and electro-phoretic depositions.

Research Topic: High Voltage Photovoltaics

Research Objectives: Development of Dye-Sensitized Solar Cell (DSSC)with high conversion efficiency of high energy photons. Research includes:

  • Wide band gap semiconductors with more negative conduction band energy compared to TiO2
  • Different dyes and absorbers for efficient electron injection into alternative semiconductors
  • Production of thin compact layers onto TCOs as a recombination barrier in DSSC using spray pyrolysis.
